“Need a Bible? Take ME!”
When I was promoted to running Northwood Physician Inc., the first thing I did was see that Bible distribution went to the highest priority. I placed NVI and NIV paperback Bibles in every treatment room where I see patients. I have a little sign on the wall next to the Bibles that reads, “Need a Bible? Take ME!”
I was asked to share an experience with you regarding these Bibles. How many days or weeks do you have to listen? This has been a powerful experience and continues to be a real life changing process that affects our staff and me as much as it does those who take the Bibles, and many of those now go to church.
People who come to the doctor are often in crisis. This may be due to family problems, health problems, vocational problems, addictions – you name it, we work with it. It is at those times of crisis that ministering through Christ to others becomes pivotally important. That is why it is so crucial to have the Bibles on hand when people are crying and sobbing and asking, “What can I do? Where can I go for help? How can I possibly deal with the terrible problems in my life?”
